In order to develop both Japan and Cambodia, JCA promotes cooperation between local governments in addition to the expansion of small and medium-sized enterprises into Cambodia.

This time, Mayor Asakuchi of Okayama Prefecture will be visiting Cambodia to develop sales channels for specialty products.
While developing sales channels in Cambodia, we aim to transfer the food manufacturing technology that Asakuchi City is proud of.

Soca Group, one of Cambodia’s leading companies and famous for its Soca Hotels, is currently developing Mount Bokor in Kampot Province in southern Cambodia as a new project. JCA and Asakuchi City, Okayama Prefecture were invited by the Soca Group to visit Mt. Bokor.

Asakuchi City is a thriving oyster farming area. Since Kampot province is also a production area for oysters, we toured a farm there.
Afterwards, we moved to Le Bokor Palace, a long-established hotel that opened in 1925 in Mount Bokor, Kampot Province.

Bokor Mountain, a popular tourist destination in Cambodia known for its beauty and fascinating history, sits at an altitude of 1,075 meters above sea level. It is a very comfortable resort area with temperatures ranging from 17 to 24 degrees throughout the year.

Rebuilt in 2018 by Soca Hotels Group, it features a carefully designed interior that recreates the interior design of the French colonial era.

At the dinner party, Soca Group Chairman Neak Okhna SOK Kong met with JCA Chairman H.E. Takahashi, Mayor Asakuchi, and others and exchanged opinions on food manufacturing technology, etc.

The next day, we toured Mount Bokor, which is currently under development. Local companies also joined us and received explanations about how to grow vegetables and strawberries in organic farms.
Residential and commercial facilities were also being developed. We also visited the construction site for a 108-meter-tall giant Buddha statue, which is scheduled to be completed in four years. When completed, it will be one of the largest Buddha statues in the world.

Positive opinions were exchanged until the very end.

Mayor Asakuchi expressed his gratitude to Neak Okhna SOK Kong, saying, “It was a very meaningful visit. If you have a chance, please come to Asakuchi City.We welcome you.”
JCAは、引き続き日本とカンボジアにおける地方自治体の連携をサポートしてまいります。
