On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, JCA members visited H.E. EANG Sophalleth Minister of the Environment.

JCA donated 10 garbage trucks to the Kingdom of Cambodia with the cooperation of Osaka City on January 30th in order to improve the garbage problem that has become a serious problem in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
We received a word of gratitude from H.E. EANG Sophalleth Minister of the Environment. They then discussed in detail the measures and future cooperative relationship with Japan.

The Ministry of the Environment emphasizes three points: cleanliness, greenery, and sustainability.

Specifically, we will start by installing separate trash cans in schools and providing thorough education.
In addition, we are planning the following:
・Update local garbage storage locations
・Plant trees (Success case: Malaysia)
・Use vacant land to grow plants and vegetables that can be taken to Japan
・Promote tourism and stop farmers from killing animals unnecessarily

JCA corporate members also made the following suggestions.
・Recycling company SY Waimihara Co., Ltd. and IT company Next Make Co., Ltd. have announced an app management system for garbage trucks.
・About the promotion of Cambodian companies using TikTok, Facebook, etc. as an advertising business

Mayor Asakuchi of Okayama Prefecture, who was also present, introduced recycled paper cutlery made by a local recycling company. H.E. EANG Sophalleth Minister of the Environment, who specializes in engineering, showed great interest.
JCA will continue to strive to strengthen its cooperative structure with Cambodia.
