1st session: October 19th (Monday) Conservation and Restoration of Bayon Temple, Angkor Ruins
Lecturer: Takeshi Nakagawa (Professor Emeritus, Waseda University)
Mr. Takeshi Nakagawa, who heads the JSA Japanese government’s Angkor ruins rescue project, focuses on Angkor Wat, a huge and mysterious complex of ruins spread across the land of Cambodia, and Bayon Temple, from the perspective of changes in temple architecture and architectural decoration. We will explain the history and details of “Angkor Thom”.

Lecturer: Mr. Fumiaki Takahashi (Chairman, Japan Cambodia Association)
Former Ambassador to Cambodia, Fumiaki Takahashi, talks about the history and politics of Cambodia, which is not well known in Japan, the current economic situation that continues to rapidly develop, and the early Edo period, which are essential for deepening understanding of Cambodian culture. We will introduce a wide range of topics, including the cooperative relationship with Japan that has continued since then.

3rd: November 2nd (Monday) Special visit to the Embassy of the Kingdom of Cambodia
A tea party was held at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Japan in Akasaka, Tokyo. Enjoy your tea time with the ambassador’s greetings, special events to learn more about Cambodia, and hospitality. In addition to the Angkor ruins, we will introduce you to many other attractions of Cambodia, such as nature, culture, and products.
