Cambodia’s Water Festival will be held from November 26th to 28th to celebrate the end of the rainy season. “I would like to appeal to all Buddhists and compatriots from all over Cambodia to actively participate in the upcoming Water Festival celebrations,” Prime Minister Hun Manet said on November 17, according to the Khmer Times.

Until now, water festivals have been affected by the spread of the new coronavirus and the holding of the ASEAN Summit, with events often not being held or boat races being canceled. There will be no movement restrictions this year, and traditional events and competitions are expected to be held. In particular, 338 boats are expected to participate in the famous boat race.

Additionally, as many people from all over the country gather in the capital Phnom Penh for the water festival, traffic congestion and city beautification are always issues. According to the Khmer Times, authorities in Phnom Penh are working to beautify the city, including by keeping toilets clean.
