November 23rd
According to the Phnom Penh Post, the results of the graduation exam for third-year high school students (12th grade) held in November have been announced, and about 100,000 students, or about 72% of the total number of test takers, passed. More than 1,600 people achieved Grade A.
According to the newspaper, the total number of examinees was 137,412, of which 98,460 passed. This corresponds to 72.89% of the total number of examinees. Additionally, there were 1,673 people in grade A, 6,964 in grade B, 18,308 in grade C, 34,246 in grade D, and 37,269 in grade E.
In 2014, Cambodia implemented major reforms to its graduation exams in order to eradicate fraudulent activities such as cheating and bribery of teachers. As a result, the pass rate, which previously exceeded 80%, has fallen to around 25%. However, since then, not only exam reforms but also reforms have been made to teacher training, and the pass rate has been increasing year by year.
